Presentation
Cancer encompasses a large number of diseases that are characterized by division and uncontrolled growth of cells that, when they become malignant, they can travel and grow in other organs, leading to metastasis. The research area of IDIBELL in cancer is made up of two programs: one is the Molecular Mechanisms and Experimental Therapy in Oncology, and the other is Epidemiology, Public Health, Prevention, and Palliative Care Program.
It is explained by Dra. Isabel Fabregat and Dr. Esteve Fernández.
StandUp Science
IDIBELL’s young scientists turn into science YouTubers. Stand-up Science is an initiative that seeks to promote dissemination and improve the researchers’ communication skills. It is promoted by the City Council (Territorial Specialisation and Competitiveness Projects, PECT) together with IDIBELL, and in collaboration with Torre Barrina.
Science sLHam
To commemorate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, IDIBELL organises a science sLHam, with the support of the Barradas Auditorium (L’Hospitalet City Council).
Quinaciència!
The protagonists of cutting-edge research at IDIBELL, the ICO, the UB and the HUB explain what their life is like as researchers and what their future goals are.
Innovation sessions
We want biomedical research to reach patients. Here we explain how.
Research and Health
Conferences aimed at patients where there is a dialogue with a researcher about a specific disease.
Experiment
1/2 – CANCER: THE IMPORTANCE OF THE COPY
In this video, you’ll understand what it is, why it’s considered a genetic disease, the importance of DNA, how cells replicate and what happens when they don’t do so properly and what you can do to prevent certain types of cancer.
2/2 – NOW IT’S YOUR TURN TO EXPERIMENT
EXPERIMENT 1: Let’s grow carrots using their meristematic cells.
EXPERIMENT 2: The phenotypes
